About
My background is in social psychology and my research focuses on organisational, psychological and policy issues relating to the development and evaluation of services for children, young people and their families, as well as services for marginalised and excluded populations. I am especially interested in participatory ways of working and ways of evaluating complex, emergent organisational and community spaces.
Previous work (research and practice) has looked at the dynamics of exclusion, inclusion and participation in the context of a youth inclusion programme; practices of measurement for service development and evaluation in child and adolescent mental health services; service development for mental health promotion, early intervention and access to psychological and social support for children in school and community settings; knowledge management in organisations; post-merger cultural integration; action research for organisational change and development; leadership development.
My work is interdisciplinary and draws on classical social psychological approaches as well as more contemporary critical and postmodernist theories. I focus on exploring the dynamics of organising and change, the relationship between knowledge and action, and the ethics of (inter)action. Methodologically I work with a range of action oriented and qualitative approaches including participatory action research, ethnography, realistic evaluation, and visual research methods.
